Hamann Schools Mathematics Competition and Practice Workshops
The aim of the competition held is to encourage interested and motivated students to enjoy the challenge of non-standard problems. There are four divisions: Primary (Yr 6/7) Junior (Yr8), Intermediate(Yr 9/10) and Senior (Yr11/12). Free student workshops are held leading up to the competition at several metropolitan and country locations. with the opportunity to discuss a range of unique problem solving questions with other students and experienced teachers who set and mark the competition.

Maths Quiz Night

A fun night for teams of 4 students in Years 8-12, with quiz questions in both Mathematical and General Knowledge sections. The event is held in numerous locations, at both metropolitan and country venues. This is a very popular and enjoyable evening. August 9, 2017.

This program is for students who enjoy mathematics. It gives them the opportunity to participate in an extracurricular activity that extends them mathematically, allows them to make contact with other like-minded students and provides the opportunity to explore real-life applications of mathematics. The sessions are run by fully qualified teachers.
This year the program will be run at the Australian Science and Mathematics School in the grounds of Flinders University. (Details will be provided nearer the time.) Each day will run from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm.

Mega Maths
Mega Maths is a joint venture between the University of Adelaide and MASA. Engaging and stimulating sessions for students Year 8 to 12, are held at the University twice a term on Friday 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Session topics have included Mindstorm Robots, Bridge Building, 3D Printers, Logarithms and Seashells, Bell Ringing etc.

National Mathematics Summer School (NMSS)
NMSS is a two week residential school held each January at the Australian National University for mathematically gifted and talented senior high school students.

Saturday Morning Mathematics Sessions for 2017

Held at the University of Adelaide's North Terrace Campus, Saturday Maths Problem Solving is an opportunity for students in years 7 to 11 who are interested in developing their problem-solving skills in mathematics beyond the school curriculum. Problem solving opportunity in Mathematics - for students who are keen to develop skills and knowledge beyond the school curriculum. 

The sessions assist students of like interests and abilities to:

  • Find friendship, inspiration and encouragement while working on, thinking about and solving non-standard (sometimes complex problems)
  • Build up a tool chest of strategies which will enable them to solve problems they have never seen before.
  • Become flexible and creative in their approach to solving problems. All students are required to bring paper, pen and a calculator. Morning tea will be provided.

The sessions are run by fully qualified educators.
